On May 7 night, a little after 7 p.m., several residents in the Luz and Mylapore area reported a power blackout for almost an hour.
TANGEDCO’s Luz area engineer says, “The transformer burst at the Luz substation. It is very difficult to pinpoint the exact reason as to why this happened. Sometimes overloads can cause this but yesterday’s problem didn’t seem like an overload issue. We rectified the problem and power was restored by about 8.30 p.m”.
There will no power issues today as a result of this, he adds.
