Civic staff remove barricades on Sannithi Street, opposite Sri Kapali Temple

Chennai Corporation officials arranged for the removal of the metal barricades which had been erected in the western side of Sannidhi Street. Civic workers have removed the barricades which were put up a few weeks ago to prevent parking of vehicles, reports Baskar Seshadri, a community activist.

This move came in for a lot of criticism from all all quarters.

Local Traffic Police personnel had said that they were not consulted on the barricade plans. Nor were civic officials briefed.

Obviously, it was the work of Sri Kapali Temple managers, reasons for which were not made public.
