On Sunday, May 5, volunteers were seen cleaning the Adikara Nandi vahanam at Sri Velleeswarar Temple, Mylapore in preparation for the brahmotsavam celebrations which will begin on May 9. The deity will be taken on the Adikara Nandi around the Mada Streets on May 11. The festival will end with the thirukalyanam on May 18 evening.
A staff at the temple says, “Painting work is going on at the temple. The vahanams have been taken out and are being cleaned and repaired wherever necessary. After the thirukalyanam, the vidayatri vizha will be held from May 20 to 29, 6 p.m. onwards. Bhajans, bharatanatyam recitals, vocal, violin and keyboard concerts have been planned”.
