On Monday, May 20 evening, a blackout affected more than 30 homes at Ranga Road and C. P. Ramaswamy Road.
TANGEDCO’s area engineer says, “At around 7.30 p.m., there was a fault in one of the cables and however much we tried to provide backup support, we got several errors. The way it works is that if a fault is minor, tripping will not occur. In this case, the minor fault developed into a major fault and that is when the tripping happened. As a result of the tripping, several homes lost power. We then isolated the area and then found out that the fault was at a cable at Subramaniyam Street, Abhiramapuram. We rectified it and power was restored in one hour”.
