In their final push of their local campaigns for the Lok Sabha elections, parties did all they could in the Mylapore neighbourhood as yet another hot day made way for a pleasant evening.
The big show of the evening was that of Kamal Haasan’s Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) party. Joined by political activist, Yogendra Yadav, the actor-politician drove down Kamaraj Salai off the Marina and then got down for a quick meet in front of the Gandhi statue on the beachfront.
The three MNM candidates for the city also joined Kamal Haasan and Yadav.
Kamal made a short speech here and before the deadline for the close of the campaign got close the caravan moved into the neighbourhood.
Elsewhere, cadres of the DMK and AIADMK took out bike rallies into the colonies, reminding people of the polling day and of their party symbol.
