A rainwater harvesting project is currently being undertaken at St. Raphael’s Girls School in San Thome. It is funded by a corporate under its CSR umbrella and is being executed by Rain Centre, a NGO based in Gandhi Nagar, Adyar.
For the past few days, workers have been digging deep wells and setting in cement rings that will form the walls of the RWH wells.
The idea is to tap the water that flows around the school campus when it rains.
Similar RWH projects funded by CSR monies have been undertaken by Rain Centre at P. S. Hr Sec. School, Universal Temple of Ramakrishna Math, Ramakrishna Mission Students Home and at Bon Secours convent and school campus besides a few other campuses.
