Following the Madras high court order to remove unauthorized flag poles erected by political parties, the corporation officials of ward 124 removed the poles that were present off R.K. Mutt Road, Mylapore on March 28 evening.
After removing the poles the corporation workers placed them at the corner of a street in Pilayar Kovil Thotam. “Later our workers will come and collect them,” said a corporation official.
“Today, we removed the flag poles at St.Mary’s Road, Natu Subburayar Street, Mundakanni Amman Street, and Nachiappan Street,” said S.Vivekanandan, Junior Engineer.
“The High court has directed to remove such poles before April 1. Hence, similar work is going on at other places in the city too,” said a corporation official.
