The staff at the Regional Transport Office at V. C. Garden 2nd Street, Mandaveli have been quite busy this past week. Quite a few programmes were organised to mark Road Safety Week from Feb 4 to 10 this year.
The motor vehicle inspector V. Girirajan says, “We have been doing something different everyday. On Feb 8, about 60 people were screened at the free eye camp held at the office. They were educated on the need to have proper eyesight while driving. Last week we joined hands with the nursing students of CSI Kalyani Multispeciality Hospital at R. K. Salai to conduct a helmet awareness programme near the hospital”.
He continues, “This past weekend, we went to Chettinad Vidyashram, R. A .Puram and conducted speech and painting competitions on road safety and distributed prizes”.
