On Sunday, Dec 30, RAPRA (R. A. Puram Residents Association) held a rally to create awareness among the residents to avoid single use plastic and to segregate plastics from garbage.
An enthusiastic group participated in the rally, they carried banners and placards with catchy slogans. Ramky staff and NCC cadets from Raja Muthiah School too joined the rally which started at Surya Sweets on First Main Road and wound its way through several inner streets of R. A. Puram.
The rally was flagged off by Mylapore MLA R. Nataraj, who received a jute bag from the president of RAPRA Dr. R. Chandrasekaran. The MLA also symbolically discarded plastics separately into the Ramky collection tricycle to create the much needed awareness.
