Yet another drive to clear pavement hawkers in the Mylapore zone was held – this time on Jan 21 evening the pavement shops on Venkatesa Agraharam Road opposite Saibaba Temple were evicted by the Chennai Corporation staff.
The drive was also held elsewhere.
The Mylapore police provided security for the process.
“We have been receiving a lot of complaints regarding traffic congestion in this road. Later, the traffic team will come and clear the illegally parked vehicles,” said S.Pandiyan, Sub Inspector, Mylapore.
“This routine process of clearing illegally putting up pavement shops also happens in the Mada Streets and on R.K Mutt Road and we removed them today,” said the Corporation’s junior engineer S. Vivekanandan.
