A set of four toilets are under construction by the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) on the North Mada Street alongside but outside the Sri Kapali Temple tank.
“Construction started a month ago. Due to the festivals and cyclone Gaja, it got delayed. It will be over within ten days”, says S. Vivekanandan, junior engineer, GCC
“The earlier toilet was not properly done. It was made with tarpaulin and wood. No one could use it. Hence we demolished it, and now we are doing with proper brickwork and sanitation facilities.”, he adds.
The toilets though sit between the tank side shops; some people wonder if the place will be sanitised properly.
