Parivadini’s music fest for the Season began on Wednesday at Raga Sudha Hall in Luz and will continue on Nov.23, 24 and 25 with concerts and a lec-dem.
On Nov.25, Sunday, 10 am, the annual Parlandu Award of Excellence, which recognises senior makers of musical instruments will be given. This year it goes to khanjira maker Muruganandam who used to make the percussion instrument for late maestro Harishankar – this year marks the musician’s 60th birth anniversary.
Following the award event, khanjira artistes Guruprasanna and Vyasa Vittalla will talk on ‘Harishankar’s Approach to the khanjira’.
On Saturday, at 10 am, violinist-vocalist Sriram Parasuram will give a lecture on nadaswaram maestro T N Rajarathnam Pillai.
Vocalist Malladi Suri Babu’s concert is on Sunday evening.
