The music and dance festival of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Chennai kendra for the December Season got underway on Sunday morning at the main auditorium in Mylapore.
It was an occasion to present the Legends Awards to three greats in Carnatic music and classical dance – Prof T N Krishnan, Umayalpuram Sivaraman and Vyjayantimala Bali.
The Tamil Nadu state governor, Bhanwarilal Purohit was the chief guest and vocalist Sudha Ragunathan was the special guest.
Seshampatti Sivalingam and artistes presented a nadaswaram concert before the awards ceremony was held and later, T N Krishnan and Viji performed the first concert of the fest.
Music concerts will be held every evening.
