Governor of Tamil Nadu, Banwarilal Purohit, is the chief guest at the inauguration of the 128th birth anniversary celebrations of carnatic music composer Papanasam Sivan to be held today evening at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mylapore. The guests of honour are N. Murali, president, Music Academy and K. N. Ramaswamy, director, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan.
The title of ‘Sivanisai Selvar’ will be conferred on Udayalur Kalyanaraman at this event. A vocal recital by Malladi Brothers will follow.
The celebrations will continue on Sep 30 and Oct 1.
On Sep 30, vocal concerts will be given by Sunil Gargeyan and S. Saketharaman. This will be held at P. S. School, Mylapore.
The ‘Ninaivanjali’ will be held on Oct 1 at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mylapore. A namasankeerthanam will be given by Udyalur Kalyanaraman followed by an address by Cleveland V. V. Sundaram. A vocal concert by Sudha Raghunathan will follow.
