June 8. A bunch of nervous toddlers have assembled at Kumara Rani Chettinad Vidyalaya for the aksharabhyasam ceremony. This is when they are formally initiated into the world of learning.
Soon it is time for the ceremony to begin. A priest walks in. Traditions are followed, children write on rice whilst hymns are being chanted.
Later the parents disperse, with smiles on their faces and happy tots in their arms.
