For the twenty three students of Kamala Music School, Mandaveli who participated in the Singapore International Choral Festival held recently, three awards was way beyond what they expected. It was a well deserved win though, made possible by the efforts of their teacher and parents.
Planning for the festival began way back in April. Parents actively took up the responsibility of working out the itinerary, practice schedules, accessories and other details. Soon the group was ready with their baggage and tickets, ready to fly out to Singapore.
The festival was held from July 19 to 23. 64 teams from 12 different countries participated in the event. On the final day, at the award function, the youngsters from Mandaveli walked away with two bronze medals, one each in the under 12 and folklore category and a special jury award under the sacred category.
