Did you know that you can call the staff in charge of the Mylapore crematorium at any time of the day or night to set the process for a cremation?
You can and we are assured that the call will be picked up. Though the cremation is allowed only between 9 am and 5 pm, with some leeway in the evenings, calls will be picked up round the clock.
The private NGO, Isha now manages the operations at this place located behind the DGP’s office and uses gas for the cremation.
While on some days the place receives 9 to 10 bodies, on some it is down to one or two.
While formal payment is not notified, the staff says people can make donations here.
