Here are some of the events planned at temples in the neighbourhood for the next few weeks…
Sri Kapali Temple, Mylapore
On Sunday, July 15, Aani Magam utsavam will be held at Sri Kapali Temple, Mylapore. A special abhishekam will be held for Saint Manickavasagar in the morning and a veedi purappadu will be held in the evening.
Sri Karaneeswarar Temple, Mylapore
Pavitrotsavam will be held from July 25 – 27. Four kalam pooja, japam and homam will take place everyday. On the last day, a special kalasabhishekam (11 kalasams) will be held in the morning. Maha poornahuti will follow. A veedi purappadu will be held in the evening.
Starting from July 20, there will be special abhishekams on all Friday mornings during the month of Aadi. In the evening, unjal sevai will be held.
Sri Adi Kesava Perumal Temple, Mylapore
On July 27, a special thirumanjanam will be held to celebrate the Gajendra Moksham festival. Later the deity will be taken to the Chitrakulam tank in Garuda vahanam where the divine story will be enacted. A veedi purappadu will be held in the evening.
Thiruvadipuram utsavam starts on Aug 4 and will go on for 10 days. A thirumanjanam will be held for Goddess Andal in the morning everyday. In the evening, a veedi purappadu will be held. Maalai mathal will follow. On the last day, Aug 13, ther will be held in the morning.
Sri Vedanta Desikar Temple, Mylapore
A special thirumanjanam will be held on July 27 to celebrate the Gajendra Moksham festival. The deity will be taken on a veedi purappadu on the Garuda vahanam in the evening. Aalavandar purappadu will also be held on the same day.
The ten day Thiruvadipuram utsavam will be celebrated from Aug 4. On Aug 13, the last day, a veedi purappadu will be held followed by thirukalyanam. For the Oorkoola utsavam on Aug 14, a veedi purappadu will be held. An 81 kalasa jyesthabhishekam will be held on Aug 15.
