Two temples in the neighbourhood will be conducting their annual brahmotsavam festival this coming week.
-At Sri Velleeswarar Temple, the kodi yetram will take place on May 20 morning. The schedule is as follows:
May 20 – kodi yetram, 7.30 a.m.
May 22 – Adikara nandi, 6 a.m.
May 24 – Rishaba vahanam, 9 p.m.
May 26 – Thiru Ther, 8.15 a.m.
May 27 – Sukra Bhagavan Kan perudal, 3.45 p.m.
May 29 – Thirukalyanam, 7.45 p.m
Vidaiyatri Vizha will be held from May 31 to June 9. Bharatanatyam and carnatic music (vocal and instrumental) recitals will be held in the evening. At 6.30 p.m. everyday. At South Mada Street, Mylapore.
-At Sri Vedanta Desikar Temple, Mylapore, the celebrations will be held from May 17-26. The schedule is as follows:
May 17 – Simha vahanam, 7.30 p.m.
May 18 – Hamsa vahanam, 6.30 a.m.
May 19 – Golden Garuda vahanam, 6 a.m., Hanumantha vahanam, 7.30 p.m.
May 20 – Sesha Vahanam, 6.30 a.m. and Chandra prabhai, 7.30 p.m.
May 21 – Nachiyar thirukolam, 5 a.m.
May 22 – Venugopalan thirukolam, 6.30 a.m. and Yaanai vahanam, 7.30 p.m.
May 23 – Thiruther in the morning
May 24 – Kuthirai vahanam, 7.30 p.m.
May 25 – Aalmel pallaku, 6.30 a.m
Vidaiyatri Vizha will be held from May 27- 29. Daily events include a thirumanjanam everyday and pusha pallaku on the last day.
