Traffic on Sringeri Mutt Road was dirupted for sometime on Wednesday morning when members of a state government staff association staged a protest and sat on the road.
Police had to bar vehicles on a busy link road that runs alongside the Mandaveli MRTS rail station.
It was learnt that the group wanted to protest outside the residence of the state chief minister on Greenways Road in R A Puram but the police disallowed it.
The group then relocated to the MRTS station zone and staged a protest.
This is the first time for some years that an organised protest has been witnessed here.
Many groups are now keen to gather on Greenways Road to stage a symbolic protest or hold placards since the chief minister lives in the colony located on the banks of the Adyar river.
