The panguni festival kicked off with the grama devathai pooja at Sri Kolavizhi Amman Temple, Mylapore today morning.
Several devotees had gathered there to witness the special abhishekam and alangaram for the deity. 11 milk pots, kumkum, turmeric, garlands and other items were brought from Sri Kapali Temple, Mylapore for the pooja.
Two varieties of pongal were prepared at the temple and offered as naivedyam to the deity. The same was later distributed to the devotees at Sri Kapali Temple.
