Here are a few events to be held at local temples in the next few weeks…
-At Sri Adi Kesava Perumal Temple, Mylapore, Sri Rama Navami festival will be held from March 17 – 26. Daily events include a veedi purappadu on different vahanams in the morning and a special alankaram followed by a veedi purappadu in the evening.
Garuda Sevai will be held on March 19. On Rama Navami, March 25, ther will be held in the morning and Hanumantha vahanam will be held in the evening. Brahmotsavam celebrations will be held from April 2 -11 at this temple this year.
-Sri Ramar Utsavam will be held at Sri Vedanta Desikar Temple, Mylapore from March 17 – 26. A thirumanjanam will be held for Sri Ramar (utsava moorthi) in the morning and an ul purappadu will be held in the evening on all the ten days. On March 18, as part of the Ugadi utsavam, a veedi purappadu will be held for the deity. On March 25, to celebrate Rama Navami, Sri Ramar will be taken on a veedi purappadu. On March 30, for panguni uttiram, a andal thirukalyana utsavam will be held. Perumal and Thayar will be taken on a veedi purappadu.
-At Sri Karaneeswarar Temple, Mylapore, Panguni Uttiram will be celebrated on March 31. A special abhishekam will be held in the morning at 8.30 a.m. In the evening, after the deepa aradhanai the deity will be taken on a veedi purappadu. The annual Chitirai Brahmotsavam festival will be held from April 20 – May 1.
– At Sri Velleeswarar Temple, Mylapore, a laksha deepa vizha will be held on March 30. One lakh lamps will be used to decorate the temple in the evening. A special abhishekam will be held for the deity in the morning and evening on that day.
