Here are some of the events to be held at temples in the neighbourhood this week…
At Sri Adi Kesava Perumal Temple, Mylapore, a seven vahanam purappadu will be held to celebrate ratha saptami on Jan 24. A thirumanjanam will be held for the deity at 3 p.m. The schedule is as follows:
Thiruther – 6 a.m.
Garuda Sevai – 7 a.m.
Sesha Vahanam – 10 a.m.
Surya Prabhai – 11 a.m.
Yaanai Vahanam – 4.30 p.m.
Chandra Prabhai -6 p.m.
Hanumantha Vahanam – 8 p.m.
At Sri Vedanta Desikar Temple, Mylapore, perumal will be taken on a veedi purappadu on the Suryaprabhai vahanam in the morning and on the Chandraprabhai vahanam in the evening.
At Sri Kapali Temple, Mylapore, on Jan 24, a veedi purappadu will be held for Sri Chandrasekharar, theerthavari will be held at the temple tank in the morning. At 9 a.m.
At Sri Karaneeswarar Temple, Mylapore, a special abhishekam will be held for the diety on Jan 24 morning at 5 a.m. Theerthavari will follow. Later, the deity will be taken around the Mada Streets on the Suryaprabhai vahanam followed by maha deepaaradhanai.
On every Friday, in the Tamil month of Thai, a special abhishekam will be held for Goddess Porkodi Amman in the morning. In the evening, an unjal sevai will be held after an ul purappadu.
