Nalina and Kannan at Thaligai restaurant want to combine their two passions – food and music. ‘Our daughter came up with this idea, so we decided to try it for 3 days. We got an overwhelming response from musicians, so we had to extend it for 7’, says Nalina.
The music festival at Thaligai, Amudhawani, will kick off on Dec 15 and run till Dec 21. There is an impressive lineup of artistes – the inaugural kutcheri is by Dr. Nithyashree Mahadevan, on Dec 15, 6.30 p.m. Abhang by Savitha Sreeram is on Dec 17, 5 p.m. and Bhakthi Sangeetham by Anuradha Sriram and Sriram Parasuram on Dec 21, 6.30 p.m.
Each concert will begin with high tea. Following the concert, a south Indian buffer dinner will be served. Rasikas can also interact with the artistes during this time. ‘If we get a good response, we plan to do it every year’, says Kannan.
Recervation is required. Each ticket is priced at Rs. 1000.
