Vintage Heritage has organised the screening of the Tamil movie ‘Naam Iruvar’ (We Two). Released in 1947, the movie is based on Pa. Neelakantan’s play ‘Thyaga Ullam’ and was directed and produced by A. V. Meiyappan. The movie features T. R. Mahalingam, Kumari Kamala and many others.
The movie was released a few months before India’s independence. Bharathiyar’s songs sung by D. K. Pattammal were a highlight.
