Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan is conducting its annual cultural festival from Nov 18 – Jan 14. On Nov 18, the first edition of the music series will be inaugurated by the Governor of Tamil Nadu, Banwarilal Purohit.
He will present the P. Obul Reddy and P. Gnanamba Memorial lifetime achievement awards, instituted by P. Vijayakumar Reddy and Dr. Preetha Reddy, to Dr. Kadri Gopalnath (saxophone), vocalist O. S. Arun and Kuchipudi artiste Selvi Sailaja.
Dr. C. V. Krishnaswami, chairman, TAG-VHS Diabetes Research Center, is the guest of honour. L. Sabaretnam, chairman, Bhavan’s Chennai Kendra, presides. A concert by vocalist Aruna Sairam will follow.
The second edition of the music series will commence on Dec 26 and end on Jan 14. More than 800 artistes will be participating in this festival. Open to all. At East Mada Street, Mylapore.
