The third edition of the Bala Kailasam Memorial Award ceremony is on this weekend. The award presentation will be followed by screening of the prize winning documentary. Bala Kailasam Memorial Award has been instituted by Cinema Rendezvous Trust to celebrate and honour media personnel for their innovative use of media towards social causes.
This year’s winners are Harish Damodaran for his economic writing in the Indian Express; M. Gunasekaran, for his works on NEET exam and its political and social fallout in News 18; Iswar Sreekumar and Anushka Meenakshi for their documentary ‘Ko Ki Pa Lu’ based on Nagaland and the life of the Naga people and Sohini Chattopadhyay for her north east reporting in TheWire.in and Scroll.in.
