Rains lashed the city last night. In the evening, from about 6 p.m. the heavy rainfall was accompanied by thunder and lightning. Many areas lost power last night due to heavy rains. Parts of Mylapore, Alwarpet and Mandaveli did not have electricity the whole night. Schools have declared a holiday today.
