AbhiNeRA – the recently formed Abhiramapuram Neighbourhood Residents’ Association – has come up with a plan of action for source segregation of garbage and responsible disposal.
In this regard, in association with Ramky Enviro, the residents conducted an awareness walk at Abhiramapuram on Sunday, Sep 24. The walk was flagged off by Mylapore MLA Dr. R. Nataraj.
Members distributed easy-to- follow pictorial pamphlets to each household. The pamphlets gave guidelines on segregation of waste, to encourage the maids and other domestic workers to drop all the garbage into the assigned colour-coded bins within each compound.
A presentation, on the methods of composting, was given. Commercial establishments in the area too were asked to follow the system.
