A three month workshop for artisans, who make idols and pooja items, will be conducted by Sri Kapali Temple, Mylapore from Aug 1.
D. Kaveri, the executive officer of the temple says, “We have received about 58 applications, out of which 50 will be selected. The workshop is only for artisans already in this trade. We will teach them how to improve their skills. We cover topics like how to make brass, bronze and metal idols, wooden handicrafts, pooja items like lamps, plates and so on. A stipend will be given and lunch will be provided everyday. We will also provide accommodation to outstation candidates”.
