In what can be described as one of the best rain days this year, Chennai received more rain in one hour than it has received for the past six months.
In the Mylapore area, the roads quickly flooded. P. S. Sivaswami Salai (near Vivekananda College), R. H. Road (near Luz signal) and Demonte Street at San Thome were just a few areas from where residents reported water logging today evening.
Steady rains are expected to continue all through the night. According to experts, heavy rains like the one today will raise the levels of groundwater. That will hopefully help residents tide over the water crisis till the monsoon arrives.
