The members of R. A. Puram Residents’ Association in association with Ramky workers have devised a new method to ensure that the roads are swept and completely cleared of garbage.
A demonstration of the same was given on June 21 morning. Dr. R. Chandrasekaran, the founder of the association says, “On June 20, we informed the residents of the street, in this case 5th Main Road, R. A. Puram, that the roads would be swept the next day”.
“We hung ten placards on the street asking the residents to avoid parking their cars on the road between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. the following day. And the next day, the Ramky workers were able to do their job better”, he adds.
Chandrasekaran is happy with the results of this planned sweeping campaign. “Most of the residents cooperated with us. We plan to implement this at other streets too”, he says.
