Several hundred devotees gathered at Sri Karaneeswarar Temple at Bazaar Road, Mylapore on Sunday, May 7 to participate in the thiruther celebrations. Held as part of the annual Chitirai festival at the temple, the festivities will end with the thirukalyanam on May 10.
Cultural programmes will be held every evening from May 12 – 21 and will include carnatic music, bhajans, thevaram, upanyasams and bharatanatyam recitals.
