If you take a close look at the base of some of the trees outside the Corporation Complex at C. P. Ramaswamy Road, Alwarpet, you will find small broken stone slabs with the name of the tree written on them, both in English and Tamil.
Locals say it could be an initiative of an anonymous green activist seeking to educate the public about trees and also to encourage everyone to take good care of trees, especially since we lost several thousands to cyclone Vardah.
