The Mylapore Trio – Amarnath, Surendranath, Aparna and Sugathan – celebrated their foundation’s 14th anniversary and 11th year ‘Kala Poshakam’ on Feb. 15 at P. S. School, Mylapore.
To commemorate the occasion, titles and awards were conferred on many artists in the field of dance and music. Hemalatha Ramachandran, of Bharatha Kalalayam was conferred the title of “Nrithya Chinthaamani” and carnatic singer Mumbai G. Shilpa was conferred the title of “Gaana Chinthaamani”.
As a part of the 15th Margazhi Bala Utsavam, three children were conferred titles and were given talent awards – S. Sahaana – “Natya Bala Padmam” for bharathanatyam, H.G. Shakambari – “Sangeetha Bala Bushan” for carnatic music, and brothers A. Vignesh and Viswesh – “Vaadhya Bala Vibushan” for carnatic instrumental music (keyboard)
Performances given by the awardees were appreciated by the children, parents, guests and rasikas who had gathered there for the event.
