Sri Kapaleeswarar Temple, Mylapore is preparing for its grand, annual Thai Poosam festival.
This festival dedicated to Sri Singaravelar will be held from Feb. 10 to 12.
Preparations for the festival are expected to start soon. A giant float will be created and the mandapam in the tank will be illuminated and decorated. The deity will adorn a special alangaram for this festival and every evening, the float will do the rounds of the tank.
People will be allowed to get on to the steps of the tank on all sides and watch the ritual.
Vana Bhojanam – Vana Bhojanam for Sri Singaravelar and his consorts Valli and Devayani will be held on Sunday, Feb. 5.
Vana bhojanam, literally means eating in a forest. On this day, the deities will be carried on a palanquin to the mandapam located closedto the Mandaveli Post Office on R. K. Mutt Road, in the morning. An abhishekam will be performed there and naivedyam will be offered to the deity.

Sri Vedanta Desikar Temple, Mylapore
Sri Vidya Abhivirithi Sankalpa Archanai, a special pooja for school students, will be held at Sri Vedanta Desikar Devasthanam, Mylapore on Feb. 19. The event will be held in two sessions – the morning session will start from 7 a.m. and the evening session will start from 4 p.m. A special thirumanjanam has also been organised for Sri Lakshmi Hayagreevar on Feb. 18.
