Seventeen community workers of Inter-mission Industrial Development Association (IIDA) who work for the poor and among children who have dropped out of school were accredited as Level 1 chess trainers after a chess trainer’s workshop organised by Emmanuel Chess Centre at Russian Cultural Centre, Alwarpet from Feb. 23 to 25.
The pedagogical training covered topics like foundational principles of chess and child psychology. The psychology session on ‘Communicating with children’ was handled by Dr. Sumathi Chandrasekaran.
Jochen Tewes, founder of IIDA, gave away the certificates.
