Long queues were seen at several ration shops in the neighbourhood including the ones at Luz Avenue (seen in the picture) and Kutcheri Road as residents lined up to receive the ‘Pongal gift pack’ announced by the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O. Pannerselvam last week.
The gift pack, aimed to enable people to cook pongal, will include a kg of raw rice and sugar each and small packs consisting of 20-25 grams of cashewnut, raisins, cardamom and a two feet long piece of sugarcane.
All PDS rice card holders and police family card holders are eligible to receive these gift packs.
