With the government deciding to no longer recognize Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 notes as legal tender yesterday (Oct 8), residents rushed to their nearest ATM to withdraw as many Rs. 100 notes as they could to take care of expenses for the days ahead.
This was the scene outside the Indian bank ATM at North Mada Street, Mylapore yesterday night.
Crowds were seen outside petrol bunks too as motorists lined up to fill up before the two day deadline given by the government.
