To commemorate Mahatma Gandhi on his 148th birthday, Alwarpet based Gandhi Peace Foundation organised a three-day workshop on peace education (from Sep 28 to 30) for 25 students of Chennai High School at Eldams Road, Alwarpet.
A one-day inter-religious trip to a Gurudhwara, the Jain Mandir, Parthasarathy Temple at Triplicane, Mosque at Dooming Kuppam and San Thome Church was also organised for college/school students and teachers.
Later, the students who participated in the national level open-book exam-competition were given certificates. Two winners from local schools – Srilakshmi Chidambaran, a class XI student of Vidya Mandir, Luz and F. Shaahida of class XI of Rosary Matriculation School, San Thome received cash prizes.
