On the eve of Ayudha Puja, prime hawking spaces have been occupied on South Mada Street, Mylapore by vendors selling everything from coconuts and flowers to thoranams and pumpkins.
With sales expected to pick up today evening (Oct 9), several vendors were seen opening up their sacks of pori (puffed rice) and getting their packets of aval, pottu kadalai (fried gram dhal) and jaggery ready. Vendors were also seen painting their pumpkins and stacking up plantain and mango leaves.
