Hundreds of people assembled around Sri Kapaleeswarar Temple Tank, Mylapore and Marina Beach today morning to celebrate Aadi perukku, a ritual observed on the 18th day of the month of Adi, to pay tribute to nature’s contribution.
Today being Amavasai (new moon day), several people had also gathered to honour their ancestors. People were seen taking a dip in the water and performing poojas. Devotees were also seen offering different varieties of rice, coconuts and flowers to the deity.
