Chettinad Vidyashram hosted its biennial cultural fest, ‘Maithri’ on Aug 19 and 20 at the school campus. The event was inaugurated by vocalist Nithyashree Mahadevan, who shared a few words of wisdom with the students.
The cul-fest, with over 4000 students from nearly 60 schools, started off with an on-stage event – channel surfing which left the audience roaring with laughter. Creative writing, light music, basketball and other events followed. The participants were judged by renowned adjudicators.
The festive mood was kept constant with notable celebrities entertaining the audience with their various performances from time to time. The music and dance performances by the host students had the audience cheering loudly.
More than 80 schools battled it out in 36 events for the final championship titled “Mr./Ms. Maithri”. The valedictory function, held on Aug 20 , was graced by Ashwin Jerome and Hudson Samuel, who shared memories from their childhood days with the students. The festival ended with the prize distribution ceremony.
