A. Selva Muthu Kumaran hails from Mayiladuthurai, the son of a retired SI from TN Fire Services. His forefathers have been Archakas of temples and to take up his family’s profession Selvamuthu, had studied Saivagama and later he entered The Madras Sanskrit College to study Sanskrit Siromani. Now, after obtaining the Sanskrit Siromani Degree, he is doing MA in Sanskrit.
From his childhood, Kumaran had a thirst to achieve something in his life, and this he did when he won the gold medal at the State level senior boxing competition held at Nehru Stadium a few weeks ago. Initially, he trained under coach Senthil Nathan and later, under coach Sajjesh. Kumaran is now being trained under Sports Development Authority of TN and TNBA.
