As part of the monthly Sunday ‘Mikeless kutcheri in the park’ organised by Sundaram Finance, Ahi Ajayan, a class VIII student at Ryan Middle School, Houston, Texas (USA) enthralled the morning walkers and an informal audience at Nageswara Rao Park, Luz on Sunday, July 3 amidst chirping birds and falling leaves.
Ahi Ajayan, who is learning music from Guru Suguna Varadachari, was accompanied by R. Swadisri (Disciple of V. V. Srinivasa Rao) on the violin and by R. Pranav (Disciple of Thiruvayaru Gurumoorthy) on the mridangam.
Ahi had undergone an online audition process conducted by Sundaram Finance before being selected for this performance. Over the last 10 years, students from the Middle East, Dubai and USA have presented mikeless kutcheris at the park.
P. Viswanathan, Company Secretary, Sundaram Finance Ltd., presented certificates and mementos to the artistes.
Organised on the first Sunday of every month, the idea is to provide opportunities to children aged 15 years and below to display their talents. Over 1000 children have presented kutcheris so far.
Sundaram Finance conducts an audition to select the artistes. Those interested to participate may contact: 9445034557 or email sundaykutcheri@sundaramfinance.in.
