The rains did not dampen the spirit of the devotees who accompanied the deities on the pallaku (palanquin) on Day 6 of the Vaikasi festival being held at Sri Velleswarar Temple, Mylapore. The pallaku did its rounds of the Mada Streets, stopping occasionally for the devotees to make their offerings.
The festivities will end with the thirukalyanam on May 21. A vidaiyaatri dance and music festival will be held at the temple premises from May 23 to June 1. At South Mada Street, Mylapore.
