Pure vegetarian Indian restaurant ‘Flavours of Lalgudi’ is now open at Abhiramapuram. It is the branch of the one at Vettuvankeni on ECR.
The walls are all decorated with images from R. K. Narayan’s ‘Malgudi Day’s – you can identify Swamy hanging around with his friends in the fictional village.
Though it is named for a small town in Trichy district, the restaurant has pan Asian specials. It offers south Indian, north Indian and Chinese foods. Some continental items are also on the menu and more will be added on in future. There are some down south specials like thattu idli, ‘thakkali’ dosa, onion oothappam, Chinese favourites like hot and sour soup, Schezwan noodles and more. Tikkas, kulchas, parathas and subzis complete the north Indian part of the menu. For lunch, the restaurant offers a south Indian meals (virundhu unlimited), business lunch and a north Indian thali.
The vathakolambu sadam and the carrot halwa were excellent, service was very good; but prices are a tad more than expected.
