Metrowater says it will set right the problems that residents in Balakrishnan Street, Mylapore have been facing for some time now.
The Area Engineer zone 9 of Metrowater has said that ‘the rectification work will be completed in three days time and water supply will be arranged through tankers till such time.’
Here is the AE’s note – With reference to a report about complaint of sewage in water supply, it is submitted that there is a pollution complaint only at Balakrishnan street in Depot 121, Mylapore.
On 28.05.2016, Neelakandan, Secretary of the street welfare association and 5 members of the association complained about water contamination in Balakrishnan Street. l have inspected the street immediately, convinced the residents, rectification work has been arranged immediately, water main has been isolated and lorry supply arranged to the residents.
The rectification work will be completed in three days time and water supply will be arranged through tankers till such time. There is no no such issue in other streets and quality of water is good in all the streets.
After rectification, water samples collected from Balakrishnan street will be checked at quality assurance wing.
