The junction of Oliver Road and P. S. Sivaswami Salai is a walkers nightmare. In the absence of a footpath, senior citizens and children find it very difficult to weave through the traffic that comes in from all directions.
70 year old Rajini Shyamsundar, a resident of P. S. Sivaswami Salai, is frustrated that nothing is being done to address the concerns of the senior citizens there. She says, “The situation has always been bad at this junction. We are not able to walk without the fear of being hit and crossing over to the other side of the road takes a long time and is very risky. A few months ago, the road block at the end of Oliver Road was removed and that has only added to our agony. Vehicles are also parked haphazardly here. I appeal to the authorities to construct a footpath there so that we can walk with fear”.
