The founders of Sri Sumukhi Rajasekharan Memorial Foundation – ’The Mylapore Trio’ are organising a three day celebration – on April 16, 17 and 20 to commemorate their foster grand mother Late. K. Sumukhi on her 100th birthday. On April 16, an abhishekam, archanai and annadanam will be held at Sri Kapaleeswarar Temple, Mylapore followed by a special pooja in the evening at Sri Navasakthi Vigneshwar Pillayar Temple at San Thome.
On April 17, a get together of academicians, alumni, relatives, friends and well wishers will be held at Lady Sivaswami Ayyar Girls School at Mylapore at 10 a.m. The ‘Sri Sumukhi Rajasekharan birth centenary endowment scholarship and prize’ will be created with a corpus of Rs. 1 lakh out of which Rs. 50, 000 each will be donated to Lady Sivaswami Ayyar Girls School, Mylapore and to Besant Arundale Senior Secondary School at Thiruvanmiyur. The proceeds of the endowment will be used to give scholarships and prizes to poor and meritorious students. Playback singer Vani Jairam is the chief guest at this event.
On April 20, a ganapathy homam will be held in the morning and Thiruppugazh bhajans will be held in the evening at R. A. Puram.
